A shimmering and iridescent dark mother-of-pearl maiden figure carved by Sandra Quandelacy depicting three corn maidens on one side and three mothers on the creamy white side - all with jet inlaid features. Sandra has inlaid a dot pendant for each of the six maidens - three have apple coral pendants and the other three have turquoise. The corn rows and hair are all nicely incised with jet inlaid dragonflies and star bursts moving the eyes all around the carving. Near the base on the creamy white side - Sandra inlaid a spiny oyster corn cob with turquoise chips inlaid all around it. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and corn maidens are revered in Zuni for giving up their life to help sustain the Zuni tribe with their corn bodies. Artist: Sandra Quandelacy (signed) Size: 3 in. wide x 7/8 in. deep x 3-1/8 in. tall #63732
