Picasso Marble Mountain Lion by Lance Cheama

A prominent gray Picasso marble mountain lion carved by Lance Cheama looking slightly to its left side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Lance has carved the legs and feet in the round then created a tail that curves to the left side of the body lifting off the ground for a half inch. Lance has kept the whole body smooth and nicely polished except around the bottom of the face, the back of the neck and below the legs. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will. The mountain lion enjoys the prestige of being one of the most capable predators, and therefore conveys to man a spirit to refine goals, preserve, and achieve.
