Picasso Marble Bear With Chief by Herbert Him

A phenomenally detailed gray, black and minimally brown colored Picasso marble Native American chief with a bear placed on the back side - conceived and created by the talented Herbert Him. Herbert has incised the rows of feathers on the chief's headdress in a way that never seems repetitive only descriptive. The face stands out in low relief -in part due to the gray vein that circles it. Below the face is a Zuni prayer bowl with some brick rows added just above it. The bear on the back side is carved in high relief with all but the back on full display - with descriptive fur lines incised all over the body. Around the bear is a wall - created from the back side of the Chief's headdress. There is a slight base created from the same stone that allows the bear and the prayer bowl to stand out. The detail all round is fantastic and the composition is quite mesmerizing! Artist: Herbert Him (signed) Size: 3-3/4 in. wide x 2-1/4 in. deep x 4-1/2 in. tall #63631
