A creamy antler frog with its baby pollywog - carved by Ray Tsalate. Both frogs have big hand made pen shell eyes inlaid to the raised eye sockets and both have six Mediterranean coral dots inlaid to the top of their backs in the shape of a triangle. We love the pair's shaped lips - that seem quite expressive. The frog and pollywog look well matched in every way. A pollywog, also known as a tadpole, is the larval stage in the life cycle of a frog. They have gills for breathing underwater and a tail for swimming. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Raymond Tsalate (signed) Size: Frog:3/4 in. wide x 7/8 in. long x 3/4 in. tall , Tadpole:1/2 in. wide x 7/8 in. long x 5/8 in. tall #63613
