A large jet bear carved by Herbert Halate looking to its right side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Herbert has added an offering bundle to the top of the carving with sinew featuring a smaller turquoise arrowhead stacked on top of a white marble larger one. Herbert is known for making these somewhat abstract lumbering bears - always taking a step forward. The supply of jet to Zuni has been depleted as of late - making this large bear very desirable. The Zuni believe the bear is endowed with curative powers, strength, adaptability and courage - powers that can influence both the spiritual and physical realm. Artist: Herbert Halate (signed) Size: 3 in. wide x 5-3/4 in. long x 2-1/2 in. tall #63574
