Chrysocolla Frog by Chris Sandoval

A beautiful dark blue green, viridian green and bluish gray veined chrysocolla frog carved by Chris Sandoval looking to its right side with coral eyes that have been inlaid to the protruding eye sockets. The webbed feet are nicely pronounced and it appears this frog is ready for his fifteen minutes of fame; he seems to be posing for the viewer. Chris told us this stone is from the Inspiration Mine, located in Arizona - renowned for its chrysocolla, a copper silicate mineral. It's brand of high-quality chrysocolla, is often referred to as "gem silica," which is a mixture of chrysocolla and chalcedony (quartz). The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land.
