Antler Maiden by Claudia Peina

A plump cream and gray streaked antler maiden with jet horizontal slit inlaid eyes and apple coral mouth carved by Claudia Peina. Claudia has incised lines to the maidens free flowing hair. The maiden wears a fourteen dot turquoise squash blossom necklace. Incised lines are inlaid with jet with the lower edge of the maiden's matta/dress displaying incised zigzags with coral dots inlaid at the bottom in the center of the triangles with pen shell beads placed in the upper halves. We have been told that triangles with dots inside them symbolizes rain. The maiden wears a sash around her waist inlaid with eleven dots - separated with two jet inlaid vertical lines.
