Onyx Mountain Lion by Douglas Martza

A fantastic cream, green and yellow ocher veined mountain lion with its head sniffing the ground with turquoise inlaid eyes. Carved by Douglas Martza the tail is carved in high relief in the traditional Zuni style flowing back over the body - with the tip extending in the round above the body! Douglas has added a fantastic offering bundle featuring a small iridescent abalone arrowhead topped with three turquoise beads surrounded by pen, apple coral and melon shell heishi. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will. The mountain lion enjoys the prestige of being one of the most capable predators, and therefore conveys to man a spirit to refine goals, preserve, and achieve.
