Leopard Jasper Bird, Horned Owl by Chris Sandoval

A small cream base leopard jasper Mexican horned owl with muted peach, grayish green and dark umber ringed spots. Carved by Chris Sandoval and delivered to Sunshine Studio in March of 2025, this lovely owl has a long extended neck and looks slightly to its left side with turquoise eyes - that have been inlaid into concave eye sockets. There is a simple offering bundle on top that features pen shell heishi surrounding two amethyst beads with one larger oblong turquoise bead at the center. The horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Owls are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life. Artist: Chris Sandoval Size: 3/4 in. wide x 3-1/4 in. long #63157
