Purisima, Crawstone ( Limestone with Embedded Shells, Baja California, Mexico) Bear by Loren Tsalabutie

An outstanding purisima - aka; fossilized limestone plump bear carved by Loren Tsalabutie standing upright on its hind legs with it's forearms raised as it looks to its left side with turquoise inlaid eyes. The embedded shells are prolific and create lively animation to the carving. Loren has given the bear a lovely offering bundle in the form of a necklace featuring coral beads that surround one turquoise pendant. The Zuni believe the bear is endowed with curative powers, strength, adaptability and courage - powers that can influence both the spiritual and physical realm.
