Egyptian Marble Bird, Raven by Melvin Sandoval

A prominent black Egyptian marble with 3 muted cream and one yellow ocher spot located on the bird's left side. Carved by the abstract artist Melvin Sandoval, the the bird has been mounted to a black marble arrowhead. There is a simple offering bundle placed on top of the raven's back featuring three turquoise beads surrounded by melon shell heishi. The Zuni artists have told Sunshine studio that the ravens are filters - separating the the bad from the good. Ravens are messengers of the great mystery; they represent a change in consciousness.
