Apache Sage Jasper Mountain Lion by Chris Sandoval

A small dark maroon, darj brown and cream spotted Apache sage jasper mountain lion carved by Chris Sandoval - delivered to Sunshine Studio in late December of 2024. Chris has carved the legs as two simplified forms then created a tail in the traditional Zuni style - draping backwards over the lion's body. The lion wears a lovely offering bundle - featuring spiny oyster beads surrounding two amethyst beads with a turquoise bead placed in the center. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the North - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will. The mountain lion enjoys the prestige of being one of the most capable predators, and therefore conveys to man a spirit to refine goals, preserve, and achieve.
