Antler Maiden by Claudia Peina

A cream faced antler maiden looking slightly upwards with jet slit style inlaid eyes and a coral circular inlaid mouth carved by Claudia Peina. This maiden has Claudia's new style flowing hair - it is seemingly blowing in the wind! The maiden wears a fourteen dot turquoise squash blossom necklace. There is an ornate sash composed of nine coral dots placed inside nine incised, jet inlaid triangles with one perpendicular line place in between them. We have been told that the triangle with dots inside them symbolizes rain. The maiden wears a kilt like skirt with intricate incised triangles inlaid with jet lines that run diagonally. There are nine turquoise dots added inside creamy white trapezoid shapes near the bottom of the kilt. On both sides of the maiden are rain clouds inlaid with diagonal jet inlaid lines. On the maiden's back side there are two prominent triangles inlaid with turquoise dots. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy.
