Zebradorite Bird, Horned Owl by Loren Tsalabutie

An animated yellow/golden ocher and gray streaked zebradorite horned owl carved by Loren Tsalabutie in the act of flight. This is the first owl carved by Loren in such a unique pose - with its wings flapping downwards creating a negative space between them. The owl looks to its left side with turquoise dots added to the softly rounded concave eye sockets. Note that Loren left one small void above the bird's vertical beak. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Owls are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life. Zebradorite is a type of feldspar with smoky quartz veins that create a zebra-like pattern. The stone brings balance into one's life, connecting mankind to the grounding energy of Mother Earth and the infinite loving energy of the Universe.
