Turquoise Bird, Eagle by Jerrold Lahaleon

A small turquoise eagle with a gray matrix carved by Jerrold Lahaleop looking to its right side with jet inlaid eyes. Jerrold has incised lines all over the eagle's body to depict feathers and has prominently carved the beak - lent support from both ends. The eagle is perched on a small rock outcropping so that its talons can be seen in low relief. Eagle medicine helps man to gain perspective of self - namely in panoramic vision. The Zuni believe the creator made the eagle to be a teacher for mankind - and due to their ability to fly the highest; they can send our prayers to the great divine.
