Turquoise Maiden by Kateri Sanchez

A turquoise maiden figure with a prominent brown matrix and jet inlaid eyes carved by Kateri Sanchez. Kateri has incised 3 corn maidens on the figure that is somewhat a rounded triangle shape. Each maiden wears a dot pendant - created from lapis, purple alunite and apple coral. There are incised stars and dragonflies added around the maiden forms that are inlaid with jet. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
