Proof that beauty can be found everywhere, even the earth, the artisans of the Le Ndomo social enterprise in Mali use traditional mud-dyeing and weaving to create eye-catching Bogolan mud cloth pillows of lush cotton. An intricate and ancestral practice, mud-dyeing begins with the collection of mud from riverbeds, followed by a lengthy fermentation in clay pots for up to a year, which is then used like paint to create bold, beautiful patterns. LE NDOMO: Crafted in partnership with Mali's Le Ndomo, a social enterprise founded in 1990 to both preserve the ancestral mud-cloth dyeing practices, and create employment opportunities through training young people who have not had the chance to study. Invisible zip closure. Pillow inserts are sold separately and are sized slightly larger than our pillow covers to create a fuller effect. Handmade in Mali. Product #619721
