Antler Bird, Snow Owl by Robert Michael Weahkee

A large cream and gray streaked antler snow owl carved by Robert Michael Weahkee straight at the viewer with a pointy beak carved in low relief. Michael has created a striking face, incising round concave eye sockets with an inner circle drilled at the center of each eye socket, inlaid with a gold lip bead turned on its side with a turquoise dot inlaid in the center. Robert has also given the owl a raised six dot turquoise necklace with a larger tear drop shaped turquoise pendant. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Snowy white owls are very wise creatures. They also have very deep spiritual meaning in many Indigenous cultures. A snowy white owl might come to you at night to give you a message about change, to tell you to trust your inner wisdom, or even as a message from your ancestors.
