Black Marble Bird, Horned Owl by Chris Sandoval

A shiny black marble horned owl with turquoise inlaid eyes and prominent plumicorn ear tufts. Carved by Chris Sandoval, the owl has its wings unfurled with lovely scalloped feathers incised in low relief. There owl's feet provide a small base with the wings also providing stability. Chris has added a lovely offering bundle around the owl's neck with sinew featuring three turquoise beads surrounding one branch coral. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. It is common to feel spiritually activated when you see or hear an owl. They are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life.
