A large striking grayish green, brown and cream shell embedded purisima, limestone medicine bear with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Burt Awelagte. Burt has added a simple offering bundle to the top of the bear's back with sinew featuring two turquoise beads surrounding one keshi pearl with pen and melon shell heishi added on both sides of the turquoise beads. The medicine bear shape is thought to resemble a cave opening - depicting a bear coming out of hibernation & the pose is the bear sniffing the ground for healing herbs. The bear is endowed with curative powers, strength, adaptability & courage - powers that can influence both the spiritual & physical realm Artist: Burt Awelagte (signed) Size: 7/8 in. wide x 4-1/4 in. long x 4-1/4 in. tall #61490
