Serpentine Frog by Michael Coble

A small dark olive green serpentine frog with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Michael Coble perched on a rock with water "splashing" down all around it - thanks to the incised lines all over the rock the frog is sitting on. Created by Michael Coble, the frog is carved and polished with the feet carved in low relief. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Michael Coble (signed) Size: 1-1/4 in. wide x 1-7/8 in. long x 1 in. tall #61468
