A striking white and gray veined zebra stone horned owl with turquoise inlaid eyes in an expressive face - carved by Michael Coble perched on a rocky outcropping allowing its tail to flow downwards quite nicely on the back and the talons to be carved in low relief on the front. It's hard to tell but Michael has incised lines all over the owl's body to depict feathers. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. It is common to feel spiritually activated when you see or hear an owl. They are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life. Artist: Michael Coble (signed) Size: 1-3/8 in. wide x 1-7/8 in. long x 3 in. tall #61460
