Red And Green Blanket Rhyolite Sea Turtle by Chris Sandoval

A red and green blanket rhyolite sea turtle carved by Chris Sandoval looking to its right side with coral inlaid eyes. Chris delivered this fantastic sea turtle to Sunshine Studio in August of 2023. The turtle's shell is incised with scutes - its the shell that has the stone's characteristic green, brown and red coloration. The stone is extrusive, meaning it is volcanically formed. Rhyolite is a stone that is thought to facilitate change, variety and progress while helping to deal calmly with challenges. Rhyolite is believed to assist in fulfilling one's goals and making one's dreams come true, while strengthening the mind, body and soul. Indigenous people recognize the turtle as the symbol of Mother Earth - some Native Americans believe that the turtle contributed to creation because the turtle dived into the primeval waters to retrieve mud to create Mother Earth. The turtle is regarded as a skillful navigator through life's difficulties. Turtle medicine teaches one to go with the flow.
