Wild Horse Rock Mountain Lion by Kenric Laiwakete

A white, cream, maroon and dark umber colored wild horse rock mountain lion with turquoise inlaid eyes and a double heart line. Carved by Kenric Laiwakete, the lion has its nose to the ground, contrasting nicely with the upraised tail bringing up the rear. There is a simple offering bundle positioned on top of the lion's back featuring a mother-of-pearl arrowhead surrounded by pen and melon shell heishi with three turquoise beads placed equal distance apart - one on top of the arrowhead and two interspersed between the heishi - one on each side of the body. For the Zuni, the lion - who is considered the guardian of the north - is the master hunter, revered for his intelligence, prowess and strength of will.
