600 Micron Filter Basket (Course)

600 Micron Filter Basket (Course) The 600 Micron Filter Basket is a coarse honey strainer designed to remove large debris while allowing honey to flow quickly during extraction and bottling. Key Features & Benefits 600 Micron Coarse Mesh: Removes large debris such as wax, propolis, and bee parts while allowing honey to pass freely. 5-Gallon Bucket Fit: Sized to sit securely inside a standard 5-gallon bucket during honey extraction. Food-Safe Plastic Construction: Durable plastic body is easy to clean and reuse. Fast Honey Flow: Coarse mesh design prevents clogging and speeds up straining. Pollen-Preserving Filtration: Mesh size allows all pollen granules to pass through the filter. Backyard Beekeeper Friendly: Simple setup, easy storage, and effective for small-scale harvesting. Detailed Description The 600 Micron Filter Basket, also known as a honey strainer, is designed to remove large debris from honey during the extraction process. With a coarse 600-micron mesh, this filter effectively strains out pieces of wax, comb, propolis, and bees while allowing honey to flow through quickly. This strainer is sized to fit inside a standard 5-gallon bucket and is commonly used beneath an extractor as honey drains directly into the bucket. The plastic construction is lightweight, durable, and easy to clean between uses, making it a practical tool for routine honey harvesting. Because of its coarse mesh size, this filter does not remove pollen from honey. All natural pollen granules pass through the screen, preserving the honey’s original characteristics. This makes it well suited for beekeepers who want to strain debris without altering the natural composition of their honey. For beekeepers harvesting larger quantities—such as 20 or more frames—using two filters can be helpful. One filter can be in use while the other is cleaned, allowing for continuous straining without slowing the harvest process. To read more about this, visit our blog on filtering pollen.
