Cerrillos, NM Turquoise Frog by Troy Sice - Zuni Fetish

A fantastic frog carved by the renowned Troy Sice looking up at the viewer with big Japanese pink coral and lapis eyes - inlaid to the frog's rounded eye sockets. The frog is carved from a distinctive piece of Cerrillos, New Mexico quarried turquoise. The green color comes from the iron content found in the stone and there is a prominent brown matrix along with various hues of blue - making this small frog quite exquisite - you will want to look at every side! Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops.
