Picasso Marble Frog by Michael Coble - Zuni Fetish

A small gray, brown and black veined frog carved by Michael Coble with a new eye treatment - the eye sockets are drilled down in a circular fashion with small jet inlaid eyes inlaid in the center of the depressions. Michael has also incised rings on all over the frog's body in his signature style. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land.
