Malachite Mountain Lion by Troy Sice

An extremely large dark grass and sea green malachite mountain lion with blue green veins carved by Troy Sice taking a step forwards with its right foot as its left front paw is raised and positioned under the lion's face. The lion looks upwards and to its left side with Sleeping Beauty Mine turquoise inlaid eyes with a Japanese coral nose providing a focal point with its soft pink color contrast. Troy has chosen a stone that inherently resembles a mountain lion - making this lion a concretion of sorts! We received this lion shortly after the 2022 Santa Fe Indian Market. The pièce de résistance is the lion's fantastic offering bundle. Troy has drilled a hole in the lion's left back foot - allowing a leather strap to hold the large spiny oyster arrowhead in place. Sinew was also used to securely fasten a Japanese pink coral wolf to the top of the arrowhead, with four turquoise beads and Brazilian forest Tulcum heishe - made by hand by an indigenous tribe - this information was provided by Troy - who knew! For the Zuni, the lion - who is considered the guardian to the north - is the master hunter;revered for its intelligence, prowess & strength of will.
