Picasso Marble Frog by Michael Coble - Zuni Fetish

A cream, brown and gray colored Picasso marble frog with big turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Michael Coble perched on a rock. Note: Michael has incised dots on the frog's bck as well as creating a texture on the rock the frog is perched on. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb, then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frog sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Frogs are harbingers of rain thus they are honored in Zuni for rain is the essence of life.
