A large muted pink, cream and gray veined serpentine frog carved by Stewart Lasiloo with turquoise inlaid eyes added to the raised eye sockets. There is a lovely offering bundle strapped on top of the frog's back with sinew featuring spiny oyster, coral, turquoise and melon shell beads. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb, then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frog sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Frogs are harbingers of rain thus they are honored in Zuni for rain is the essence of life. Artist: Stewart Lasiloo (signed) Size: 3-1/4 in. long x 2-3/4 in. wide x 1-5/8 in. tall #59531 - Zuni Fetishes
