Serpentine Frog by Jonas Hustito - Zuni Fetish

A large muted pinkish tan/cream colored serpentine frog with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Jonas Hustito. The front two feet are carved in the round and Jonas has implemented a rounded chip carve technique all over the frog's body. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frog sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. The frog is a harbingers of rain thus they are venerated in Zuni for rain is the essence of life.
