Zuni Rock (travertine) Turtle With Hatchling by Gayla Eriacho - Zuni Fetish

A Zuni rock travertine turtle with its baby hatchling perched on its back - a signature carving for Gayla Eriacho; the sister of Orin Eriacho. Both turtles have big round penn shell inlaid eyes and the hatchling has a Zuni quarried azurite, malachite & chrysocolla inlaid shell. Turtle medicine is to go with the flow, due to the turtle's proclivity to go with the current & symbolically represents mother earth. And animals carved with their offspring suggests in stone the strong bond that exists between the mother and the child.
