Picasso Marble Dog, Great Dane by Cody Nastacio - Zuni Fetish

A gray and muted black veined Picasso marble Great Dane carved by Cody Nastacio looking up at the viewer with turquoise inlaid eyes in an expressive face. Cody has carved the hind legs as one form - then he created the front two in the round. Dogs were the first carvings we received from Cody when he first started carving - it seemed it was Cody's way of finding his niche in the Zuni carving community. In the Middle Ages, Great Danes were believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits or ghosts.
