Picasso Marble Horned Toad by Michael Coble

A gray, cream, tan and brown veined Picasso marble horned toad with big turquoise inlaid eyes. Carved by Michael Coble, the toad rests on a textured round rock carved from the same stone with its front legs carved in high relief. The horns also stick up with the ridges carved in a subtler texture. The horned toad lizard represents longevity and self-reliance and there's a link in Zuni belief between the horned toad & lightning; deriving from the zigzag spikes & horns found on the head and ridges on the back.
