Picasso Marble Lizard by Lance Cheama - Zuni Fetish

A gray, brown, cream and tan colored Picasso marble lizard carved by Lance Cheama looking to its right side with turquoise inlaid eyes. The lizard's long tail wraps lyrically back over the body - forming a loop. A pronounced dewlap hangs down below the lizard's neck. Dewlaps are flaps of skin beneath the chin that are extended and combined with head and body movements for visual signals and displays. Lizards are associated with healing, survival and protection - especially of children - as well as prosperity, renewal, good luck and also masculinity.
