Picasso Marble Bird, Eagle by Eli Cheama

A striking gray, muted brown and black veined Picasso marble eagle with turquoise inlaid eyes, nicely defined wings and tail and simplified base carved from the same stone that allows the talons to be carved in low relief. This striking eagle was carved by Eli Cheama, the thirty something son of Fabian and Vivella Quam. The eagle represents conscious enlightenment and clarity. The Zuni believe the creator made the eagle to be a teacher for mankind - and due to their ability to fly the highest; they can send our prayers to the great divine.
