Turquoise Maiden by Claudia Peina - Zuni Fetish

A majestic turquoise maiden figure carved by Claudia Peina with jet and coral inlaid features. The maiden wears an elaborate fringe shawl - with incised lines inlaid with jet - notably in the shape of triangles that in turn have twenty seven coral dots inlaid within them. The maiden wears a bear claw necklace created with eleven pieces of coral and has coral inlaid moccasin clasps. Finally there is a seven dot coral flower inlaid near the base of the maiden's manta/dress. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy.
