Antler Maiden by Troy Sice

A cream tinged antler maiden with jet slit style inlaid eyes and a coral inlaid mouth carved by Troy Sice and delivered to Sunshine Studio's front porch in September of 2020. The maiden wears a tablita style headdress with 6 lapis & one big Mediterranean coral dot inlaid to the front side. The maiden wears a double strand necklace - consisting of 11 Mediterranean coral & 9 Sleeping Beauty Mine turquoise dots. The necklace 'dots' are inlaid to 2 raised and rounded forms - a new style for Troy. The maiden wears a manta with triangles inlaid with pipestone with lapis dots inlaid near the manta's edge. The maiden wears a loin cloth like a shawl with a strip of inlaid bits of coral, penn shell and turquoise on the back. The maiden symbolizes abundance, fertility and feminine energy & the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
