5659304 | Genuine Bendix Advanced Radar Anti-Collision Module FLR20

Description: An Advanced Radar Anti-Collision Module FLR20 5659304 is basically a front-mounted radar sensor system used in large vehicles (like semi-trucks and buses) to help prevent crashes. Advanced Radar Anti-Collision Module FLR20 500K For Freightliner (Cascadia, M2), International (LT, ProStar), Kenworth (T680, T880), Peterbilt (579, 567), Volvo / Mack trucks Part Number: 5659304 Condition: New Manufacture/Brand: Bendix Fits 5659304 For  Freightliner (Cascadia, M2) International (LT, ProStar) Kenworth (T680, T880) Peterbilt (579, 567) Volvo / Mack trucks Purpose of using 5659304:   1. Prevent rear-end collisions The module tracks traffic ahead and detects when you’re closing in too fast. It: Warns the driver Can automatically apply brakes if needed Rear-end crashes are one of the most common accidents in trucking, so this is a big deal. 2. Maintain safe following distance When paired with adaptive cruise control, it: Adjusts speed automatically Keeps a consistent, safe gap between vehicles This reduces driver workload on long highway drives. 3. React faster than human reflexes Radar systems like the FLR20 can: Measure distance and speed instantly Respond in milliseconds That’s often faster than a human can perceive and react, especially in sudden slowdowns. 4. Reduce accident severity (not just prevent them) Even if a crash can’t be avoided, the system can: Slow the vehicle before impact Reduce damage and injury 5. Support driver awareness (not replace it) It acts like a second set of eyes: Works in low visibility (dark, rain, fog) Alerts drivers when they might miss something Signs of a Bad Anti-Collision Module 5659304:   Warning lights or dash messages The most common sign: “Collision Mitigation System Fault” “Adaptive Cruise Disabled” “Radar Obstructed” (when nothing is actually blocking it) These alerts often mean the module isn’t reading correctly or has lost communication. Adaptive cruise control stops working Since the FLR20 feeds data to adaptive cruise: Cruise control may shut off suddenly Or refuse to activate at all Constant or false collision warnings A failing module can misread distance: Alerts when nothing is there Thinks vehicles are closer than they are Random beeping or warnings This is a big red flag for sensor or calibration issues. Automatic braking behaves oddly You might notice: No braking when it should activate Or unexpected braking with no obstacle Either case means the system isn’t interpreting radar data correctly. System completely disabled In more serious cases: The collision mitigation system shuts down entirely Truck runs normally, but all safety assist features are offline Poor performance in normal conditions Radar should work in rain and darkness. If it struggles when: Weather is mild Sensor is clean …it could point to a failing module. Intermittent issues Works sometimes, fails other times Errors come and go This can indicate: Internal electronics failure Wiring/connectivity issues Not always the module itself Before assuming the FLR20 is bad, check: Dirty or blocked radar sensor (mud, ice, snow) Misalignment (after a bump or accident) Wiring/connectors Need for recalibration after repairs About the Manufacturer – Bendix: Bendix is a leading manufacturer of air brake systems, safety technologies, and control components for commercial trucks, buses, and trailers.
