Serpentine Frog, Double by Travis Lasiloo, Deceased

A large sage, olive & lime green serpentine frog double with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Travis Lasiloo - picked up in November of 2019. Doubles are carved to suggest the bond that exists between the male and female species. Travis has painstakingly created crevices all over the pairs' bodies suggesting the warts & spots found on a frog's body. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain & are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Travis Lasiloo, Deceased (signed) Size: 5-1/4 in. long x 2-1/8 in. wide x 1-5/8 in. tall #56149
