A cream, golden ocher and brown veined picture jasper frog with its baby turquoise tadpole mounted on top. Carved by the deceased Verla Lasiloo Jim, we are happy to have found this carving in an upcoming inventory box for Verla seldom used an offering bundle to strap down the baby on top. Mothers with their offspring suggest the deep bond that exists between the the parent and the child. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain & are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. Artist: Verla Lasiloo Jim, Deceased (signed) Size: 1-5/8 in. long x 1 in. wide x 1 in. tall #55794
