Just in time for the Chinese new year of 2020 - a Happy Camp, California, Klamath mountain carved dark blackish green jade rat! This detailed creature with turquoise inlaid eyes was specifically requested & made by the realistic miniature carver; Fabian Cheama. The Rat is the Chinese zodiac sign known for being inquisitive, shrewd, and resourceful. The Rat is also the first in the rotation of the 12 zodiac signs, meaning that a Rat year is a year of renewal. From its origin above Klamath Falls, Oregon, the Klamath River has cut a tremendous gorge through the Siskiyou mountains to create the Klamath River Canyon. A widening, where the river makes a turn to the south on its way to the sea, provides the setting for Happy Camp. Artist: Fabian Cheama (signed) Size: 2 in. long x 3/4 in. wide x 1 in. tall #54873
