Our first cream tinged antler standing mountain lion carved by Ray Tsalate - delivered to Sunshine in July of 2019. The lion has burnished ear tips, black marble inlaid snout, gold-lip & malachite inlaid eyes & was carved to balance on both feet - thanks to the 1-1/2 inch long inlaid tail. The bear wears an eighteen dot turquoise & seven & dot Mediterranean coral double strand necklace and is clothed in an embellished manta with lapis inlaid to cross hatch incised marks preceded by a seamless inlaid strip of turquoise, gold-lip, coral, lapis, spiny oyster, abalone, malachite, variscite, gaspeite & penn shell to name most with another lapis inlaid line above it. For the Zuni, the lion - guardian to the north - is the master hunter, revered for its intelligence, prowess & strength of will & is believed to be a spiritual link to the creator - carrying our messages upwards due to its link to all cosmic & natural forces.
