AUTOMATIC BALL DRIP VALVE

The Automatic Ball Drip Valve (or automatic drain valve) is a compact, passive safety device used in fire protection systems, such as sprinkler systems, standpipes, and fire department connections (FDCs). Installed at the lowest point in normally dry piping (e.g., between an FDC and its check valve), it automatically drains residual or leaked water to prevent freezing in cold climates, corrosion, or water accumulation that could impair system reliability. Key Features: Gravity-operated design — A stainless steel ball seals the drain port under system pressure (typically closing at low pressures like 2–7 psi) and opens when pressure drops, allowing automatic drainage without electricity or manual intervention. Durable construction — Made of corrosion-resistant cast brass/bronze body with NPT threaded connections. Pressure-rated — Handles up to 175–300 psi working pressure, with UL Listed / FM Approved. Prevents damage — Essential in freezing-prone areas per NFPA 13 guidelines; also indicates potential check valve leaks by showing drainage. Low-maintenance — Simple, reliable operation with no moving parts beyond the ball. Ideal for ensuring fire protection piping remains dry and ready during emergencies.
