5 Micron String Wound Sediment Filter High Capacity

Maximum Dirt-Holding Capacity for Demanding Applications When standard sediment filters aren't enough, the 5 Micron String Wound Sediment Filter delivers. Its unique wound construction and gradient density design holds significantly more sediment before replacement – perfect for well water, older plumbing, or high-sediment municipal supplies. 🔬 String Wound Construction Advantage Unlike molded or pleated filters, string wound filters are created by precisely winding textile fibers around a central core. This creates: ✓ Gradient Density: Looser outer layers capture large particles, progressively tighter layers catch finer sediment ✓ Depth Filtration: Particles are captured throughout the filter, not just on the surface ✓ Superior Dirt-Holding: Holds 2-3x more sediment than comparable surface filters ✓ Extended Service Life: Fewer filter changes, lower maintenance costs How Gradient Density Works The outer layers of the filter have larger openings that catch big particles first (rust flakes, sand grains, large debris). As water moves inward, the progressively tighter winding catches smaller and smaller particles until the 5 micron core captures the finest sediment. This prevents premature clogging and maximizes filter life. What This Filter Removes ⚠️ Rust & Pipe Scale: Corroded metal particles from aging infrastructure ⚠️ Sand & Grit: Common in well water and some municipal supplies ⚠️ Silt & Clay: Fine particles from groundwater sources ⚠️ Dirt & Debris: Organic and inorganic particulates ⚠️ Pipe Fragments: Degrading plumbing materials Ideal Applications The string wound design excels in challenging water conditions: 🏠 Well Water: High sediment loads from groundwater 🏛️ Older Homes: Corroding pipes produce more rust and scale 🌊 After Water Main Work: Disturbed sediment in municipal lines 📍 Rural Areas: Higher particulate levels in water supply Universal Compatibility Works with ALL Life Ionizer models when installed in a standard 10" filter housing (sold separately). The perfect first-stage prefilter for any water ionizer system. Features Construction: String wound with gradient density design Filtration Rating: 5 micron particle removal High Capacity: Superior dirt-holding vs. standard filters Gradient Density: Outer layers catch larger particles first Removes: Rust, sand, silt, dirt, pipe scale, debris Housing: Fits standard 10" filter housings Extended Life: Longer service intervals between changes Replacement Schedule 📅 City Water: Every 4-6 months 🏠 Well Water: Every 2-4 months 🔧 Visual Check: Replace when flow decreases noticeably The string wound design typically lasts longer than standard sediment filters under the same conditions. 💡 Build Your Complete Pre-Filtration System Install as the FIRST stage before a carbon block filter. This protects the more expensive carbon filter from sediment loading, allowing it to focus on chemical removal.
