Learn More About Cabinet Accessories & Hardware Updating your Cabinets with Laminate Sheets How to Order and Install Moulding, Veneer & End Panels Replacement Cabinet Shelving Frequently Asked Questions What's the difference between 3D laminate and your PSA veneer sheets? Our 3D laminate features a non-adhesive phenolic backing and requires contact cement for application, while PSA veneer comes with preglued adhesive. 3D laminate is the same thermofoil material used on our cabinet doors, ensuring a perfect match for your refacing project. Which colors are available and will they match my thermofoil cabinet doors? We offer six finishes that perfectly match our thermofoil cabinet doors — White Smooth Satin, White Textured Matte, White Smooth High Gloss, Antique White Smooth Satin, Stone Grey Textured Matte and Smoke Grey Textured Matte, Sage Green Smooth Satin, Denim Blue Smooth Satin, Pitch Black Smooth Satin. Do I need a special adhesive to install 3D laminate sheets? Yes, we recommend liquid contact cement for application. Unlike our PSA veneer, 3D laminate doesn't have pre-applied adhesive. The phenolic backing provides a barrier between the thermofoil and glue for superior adhesion. Follow manufacturer instructions for best results. What tools do I need for installation? You'll need basic tools, including a tape measure, 150-grit sandpaper, utility knife, J-roller or wood scraper, tack cloth, and liquid contact cement. A table saw or circular saw helps with cutting, and a router will be useful for creating clean edges. How thick is the 3D laminate and what surfaces can I use it on? The phenolic backer is .55mm (about 1/32") thick, with thermofoil thickness varying from 1/32" to 1/16" depending on color. It's perfect for cabinet face frames and end panels, designed specifically for interior use only. Should I let the laminate acclimate before installation? It's critical to place laminate sheets somewhere flat and allow them to acclimate for 48 hours before installation. This prevents warping and ensures proper adhesion. Review our complete installation tips for surface preparation guidelines. Can I use 3D laminate for outdoor applications? No, 3D laminate is designed for interior use only. This product excels in kitchen and bathroom cabinet refacing, where it's protected from harsh weather. For outdoor projects or areas with high moisture exposure, consider alternative materials. How do I cut and finish the edges of 3D laminate? Cut laminate strips 1/2" wider and 2" longer than needed using a laminate slitter, rotary cutter or sharp utility knife. After adhering, trim excess with a razor knife and finish edges with a hand file or 150-grit sandpaper for a smooth, professional appearance.
