4" Hoya Black Margin

Hoya parasitica 'Black Margin' is an enchanting vining plant celebrated for its striking foliage and delicate flowers. Its ovate leaves feature prominent veins and dark, contrasting margins that stand out against the vibrant green. As the plant matures and is exposed to plenty of light, these dark margins deepen in color, enhancing the plant’s overall beauty and appeal. Care & Growing Condition: Light: Hoya Parasitica Black Margin thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may hinder flowering. A spot near a window with filtered light is ideal. Water: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water deeply when the top inch of the soil feels dry, typically every 1-2 weeks. In winter, reduce watering frequency, as the plant requires less moisture during its dormancy. Humidity: This plant prefers moderate to high humidity but can adapt to average household conditions. If the air is particularly dry, consider misting the plant occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend designed for succulents or a mix of regular potting soil with perlite or orchid bark to enhance drainage. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to summer). During fall and winter, reduce or cease fertilization. Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and ensure it has drainage holes. Pruning: Prune to maintain shape and manage size as needed. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves to encourage healthy growth. Pests/Diseases: Keep an eye out for common pests like mealybugs and spider mites. If spotted, treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
