3T Primo 2 WPNT Frameset

The 3T Primo 2 WPNT Frameset was built on a premise most gravel frames ignore: speed matters on gravel too. Where the category has largely settled into a relaxed, adventure-first posture, 3T went the other direction — applying genuine aerodynamic engineering to a frame intended for mixed-terrain riding. The result is a carbon gravel frameset that doesn't ask you to accept a drag penalty the moment you leave the tarmac. The tube profiles throughout the Primo 2 WPNT are shaped with aerodynamic intent — not as a visual flourish, but as a functional choice for riders who spend real time at real speed. Gravel racing, fast all-road days, and long mixed-surface rides all involve sustained efforts where drag reduction has meaningful returns. 3T understood this early, and the Primo 2 carries that thinking into its second generation with refined carbon construction and the same commitment to going fast across varied ground. The "WPNT" designation is central to understanding how this frame works in practice. It stands for Wide Plus Narrow Tire — a 3T philosophy that acknowledges the tire compromise at the heart of all-road riding. The Primo 2 is designed to accommodate wider rubber for grip and confidence on loose surfaces, while remaining equally at home with a narrower, faster tire setup when the day is mostly road. That flexibility doesn't come from vague clearance claims — it's a deliberate engineering choice baked into the frame's geometry and construction. You build the bike for the terrain you're actually riding, and you don't have to choose one setup and live with it. 3T Primo 2 WPNT Frameset Specs at a Glance Frame Material: Carbon fiber with aerodynamic tube shaping throughout Design System: WPNT (Wide Plus Narrow Tire) — engineered for tire versatility across mixed terrain Brake Standard: Disc brake compatible Frame Type: Gravel / all-road frameset Sizes Available: S, M, L, XL Colorways: Fumo (dark smoke), Salvia (sage green), Gesso (off-white) Gesso Availability: S and M only Manufacturer: 3T Included: Frame and fork (frameset) Design Benefits Aerodynamic Carbon Construction: The Primo 2 WPNT uses shaped tube profiles designed to reduce drag — an approach borrowed from 3T's road racing heritage and applied to a gravel context. At the sustained speeds of gravel racing or fast mixed-terrain riding, that attention to airflow translates into measurable efficiency gains over a long day in the saddle. WPNT Tire Versatility: Rather than splitting the difference and landing somewhere mediocre, the WPNT system is designed to perform genuinely well at both ends of the tire spectrum. Run wider tires when the route demands grip and trail confidence. Swap to a narrower setup for a faster road-heavy day. The frame is built to support both choices without compromise to geometry or clearance. Second-Generation Refinement: The Primo 2 carries forward 3T's original vision while incorporating updated construction and finishing. This isn't a concept study — it's a frameset shaped by real-world feedback from riders who've pushed the original platform hard across competitive and recreational terrain alike. Clean, Purposeful Aesthetics: Three distinct colorways — the dark smoke of Fumo, the muted green of Salvia, and the pale, chalky Gesso — each carry the frame's lines without decoration for its own sake. The visual restraint reflects the same discipline that shapes the engineering: nothing here exists just to look the part. Final Take The 3T Primo 2 WPNT Frameset is built for the rider who takes speed seriously on every surface — someone who races gravel, rides fast mixed-terrain routes, or simply refuses to accept that leaving the road means leaving performance behind. It suits a builder who wants a technically intentional platform and knows exactly what kind of machine they want to put together. This is a frameset with a clear point of view, and it rewards riders who share it.
