Half-Face Respirator

If you're vaporizing oxalic acid, this is the one piece of gear you don't cut corners on. Oxalic acid vapor is an acid gas, and breathing it can seriously damage your lungs over time — a dust mask won't protect you. The 3M 6200 is a reusable half-face respirator that seals to your face and, paired with the right cartridge, keeps that vapor out while you treat. Key Features Lungs shielded — the 3m 60923 cartridge blocks the acid gas that oxalic acid vapor actually is, plus organic vapor and fine particulates (its OV/AG/P100 rating). The right protection — many beekeepers assume a dust mask or plain particulate filter is enough. In reality, oxalic acid vapor is an acid gas, and only an acid-gas-rated cartridge like this stops it. Reusable season after season — swap the cartridge when it's spent and the facepiece keeps going, treatment after treatment. Secure, adjustable fit — adjustable head straps pull the thermoplastic seal tight. It only seals on a clean-shaven face, so stubble will break the seal (no way around that with any half-face mask). All-day comfort — light enough to wear through a full round of hives without the fatigue a heavier mask causes. Certified protection — NIOSH-approved as a negative-pressure air-purifying respirator. Works With 3M 6000-series bayonet-mount cartridges and filters 3M 60923 OV/AG/P100 Cartridge — the acid gas and particulate cartridge we pair with this respirator for oxalic acid Does Not Work With Particulate-only filters as your sole protection — they trap solids but let acid gas through Non-3M / non-bayonet cartridge mounts Seasonal Use You'll reach for this in fall and early spring — the broodless windows when oxalic acid vaporizing is done. It's not a summer tool.
