39" Clear Bent Tempered Glass Rectangular Coffee Table

Most glass-top coffee tables use glass as a surface resting on something else, such as wood legs, a metal frame, or a stone base. This Clear Bent Tempered Glass Rectangular Coffee Table is different: the glass is the entire table. The bent glass construction means the same material that forms the top has been heat-shaped into the curves that hold it off the floor, so there is no visual interruption, no joint between surface and structure, no contrast of materials pulling the eye in two directions. What you get is something that reads almost as a single continuous form, clear, open, and surprisingly light to look at despite weighing nearly 60 pounds. At 14 inches tall, it sits lower than most coffee tables, which suits deeper, more relaxed seating and gives a room a more horizontal, considered feeling. The tempered glass is durable and holds up to everyday use; all the honesty of the design comes from its clarity, not from fragility. A dry microfibre cloth handles everyday dust and light smudges well, and a glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than directly to the surface keeps streaking to a minimum. Because the bent glass forms the structural base as well as the top, it is worth avoiding any sharp impacts on the curved sections, which bear the load of the table. Tempered glass is strong, but concentrated force at a curved edge is where any glass construction is most vulnerable. There are no wood or metal components to worry about, which simplifies care considerably. An all-glass table works because it doesn't compete; it sits in a room and lets everything around it remain visible, which makes it particularly well-suited to smaller living spaces where a solid table would visually close off the space. Against a pale rug, the reflections in the glass pick up the colour and texture beneath; against a darker floor, the clarity of the table reads almost as a floating surface. Because there is no wood tone or metal finish to coordinate with, it pairs with almost any palette. The one thing it amplifies is the quality of what you place on it. Hence, a simple ceramic bowl, a single stem in a narrow vase, or a stack of well-chosen books tends to look more considered here than it might on a busier surface.
